Remembering the Present
 – A Beginners’ Guide to Mindfulness Meditation

The practice of mindfulness lies at the heart of the Buddha’s teaching and has recently been taken up in contemporary psychology. This online workshop will explore the nature of mindfulness and its practice as taught by the Buddha. Once we understand the basic principles underlying mindfulness, we can then apply it to any situation in our lives.

The workshop is designed for beginning practitioners, as we will assume no prior knowledge or experience. Experienced practitioners may find the workshop helpful to fill any gaps in their understanding. We will have dharma talks, guided practices, group discussions and periods of independent practice. We will also engage in stretching exercises to cultivate a posture of ease and steadiness to help our minds to settle and become clear. Please wear loose and comfortable clothing suitable for bodywork.

Please note that all events in this workshop will be held in Malaysia time (MYT).

This workshop is being organised by Sasanarakkha Buddhist Sanctuary (SBS), which is a Theravāda Buddhist monastery and meditation centre. It follows Buddhist tradition in that it sees the dharma to be of such great value that it cannot be bought or sold, but can be transmitted and received only as gift. This is dāna, which in the Pali language means “giving” or “gift.” In this spirit, SBS and Patrick are offering this workshop as a gift. You are encouraged to return this gift in the form of financial support. As a gift is not a payment for service, the amount you choose to give is entirely up to you. Giving dāna is a declaration of mutual respect between giver and receiver, and a practical way of supporting the cultivation of Buddha Dharma.

For this retreat you will offer your dāna to SBS and it will be shared between SBS and Patrick. In this way both SBS and Patrick can continue to offer the teaching into the future. For details on how to offer dāna, go to:
