When we speak about the Buddha’s teaching we are often focused on concepts like “enlightenment,” “awakening” and “wisdom.” These are cognitive attainments. They concern the mind and what the mind understands. But the dharma is also about the cultivation of the heart, the realm of feeling and affect. This morning we will explore the Buddha’s teaching on vedanā, “feeling,” that points us toward the ocean of affect within which we live and move.
